Meet Karen
I was born in West Seattle, Washington as a fourth generation native of West Seattle. I attended Chief Sealth High School, home of the Seahawks (The real Seahawks!). I am a Past Honored Queen and Majority Member of Bethel #70 International Order of Jobs Daughters and also a member of the International Order of Eastern Star. In 2000, I started my Document Control career working for KJM Associates at the Renton Water Treatment Plant. I then moved to the the Port of Seattle working on the Third Runway Project. In 2002, I was hired full-time for the Port of Seattle and stayed on as the Office Manager until in 2007 when I took a sabbatical to take care of my infant daughter.
Honing her skills on the Tacoma I-5 SR 16 and Federal Way Link Light Rail Projects
I went to South Seattle College in 2009 and obtained a degree in Network Administration. In 2013, I began working for JTS Associates on the U-Link Light Rail Project for Sound Transit and later became the Lead on the Tacoma Trestle Project for Sound Transit. When the Trestle Project was completed, I worked for a school construction project for Tacoma Public Schools. We introduced a new DCMS called Builderbox. This was a challenge as I was one of the first to use it.
In January 2019 I started working for Skanska on the Tacoma I-5 SR 16 Project as an Administrator. I learned the Procore Document Control System as well as their Payroll system. In October 2019, I joined the team on the Federal Way Light Rail for Sound Transit. I hope we can learn from each other, and I know we will be a great team!
